The Best Game Ever
Many students around this time in their academic careers face a grim sense of uncertainty regarding their path in life. This current batch of juniors and seniors especially seem to struggle with this, having the last of their teenage lives stripped away from them due to the pandemic and forced to adapt to adulthood on the fly.
While there are times where I feel bogged down and the magic that once existed slipping away, I always find that passion shines brightest after trials like these. I wanted to capture these emotions and feelings I often must ask myself. “Why am I here? Why do I create? Is any of this worth it?”. This game is about just that. “The Best Game Ever” follows a student questioning their path in life as they rage an ongoing battle within themselves over whether what they set out to do is worth it. Through the player’s actions, will this student find their passion again, realize the passion has been gone, or succumb to their own inaction?
Above all else, my one goal for this game along with my entire body of work is that this experience touches even just one person and helps them find the passion for what they enjoy just as the experiences that made me want to become a game designer did.
